AKT-S and ZANG present ”PERFORMANCE DAY 2”
Tou Scene, Stavanger, Norway 20-22 October 2006.

Last year AKT-S (performance artists of Stavanger) arranged Performance Day 1 at Tou Scene. Six regional artists attended and invited Rita Marhaug and Mark Leahy to perform. The event inspired us to arrange such an event again:::::::::::

This year 8 local artists perform together with invited artist Oreet Ashery. AKT-S also collaborates with local electronic musicians ZANG, which have invited GTUK and Massacessi to the program. “Performance Day 2” is artist run and free of curatorial concepts prepare for a sparking two days! Several of the pieces will only be shown at this event a once chance come and get it live! Contact akt-s@touscene.com for detailed program.

GTUK: German electronic duo: Describe themselves as the unserious electronic grind apocalypse, named Influences: pig destroyer, nasal, napalm death, Charles Bronson, the locust, the prodigy, square pusher, Mozart (no joke!!!), and many more!!! They describe their sound like a hyper fast version of a c64 game soundtrack with an angry little boy sitting next to it and screaming into a sony cassette recorder.... or just like a electro-remix of a nasal song combined with the prodigy, Atari teenage riot and scooter! Don’t know it’s your choice it sounds like you think it sounds like

Oreet Ashery: Jerusalem-born, London-based artist. During the last two years Oreet exploits the creation of her alter ego Marcus Fisher identifiable a male orthodox Jew. Her role-play in performances and staged photography derives from the discomfort and lack of understanding between orthodox and secular Jews, one of the major lines of division in Israeli society. Marcus passes for male in most situations, appears trans gendered in some also assails the taboos of homosexuality and transvestites that are still in effect for orthodox Jews. www.7actsoflove.org

GilbertandGrape work to create actions performed together with the viewers. In the piece “missing you mostly” we show a video of an action performed simultaneously in two countries. The two performers run in to the night with an empty shopping trolley in an empty car park. They think about people they miss and cannot physically be with. This atmosphere is recreated in an installation at Tou Scene and the audience is asked to perform the action together with GilbertandGrape. Together we send our wishes into the night.. www.gilbertandgrape.co.uk

GilbertandGrape will also develop a piece in collaboration with Oreet Ashery during her residency at the Rogaland Art Centre in October. www.rogalandkunstsenter.no. The result of this work is presented at the Performance Day, world premiere.

Engaging in diverse individual work ranging from hard-core noise to electric-pop duets. They also work as curators of a monthly event at Tou Scene, which have resulted in a long list of collaborations amongst them Maija Ratkje, Frode Gjerstad, Molitrix, Frode Gjerstad, Nils Henrik Asheim www.zang.no

Sidsel Christensen: Educated from Goldsmith. Working with film and performative lectures. ”My films explore the spaces between people where relationships come into existence. I seek to question how it is to perceive something: In filming and interacting with people where do I end and they begin? Whilst the camera might capture these ’in-between’ spaces it also creates and delineates the distance. I look at what occurs when seemingly random elements come together to form a meaningful moment in the films. Is this sequence of events that gives rise to linear time something that exists prior to my perception? When we pull back the curtain, do we see the familiar or the foreign? After all, distance might only be an illusion.”

Massaccesi: electronica musician ”All of my work centres around recycling. From physical pieces made with fabric or paper to composing experimental musical pieces and performing, I am constantly re-using and recycling. I actually dislike using new or custom-made materials for things. I'm obsessed with how we as humans generally use and abuse but usually don't re-use (or try to maximise the use of) what we're consuming. We are currently consuming far mar than we are re-using and the main goal I hope to achieve is that people can be inspired by this idea to try to view any object as re-usable in some way” To name but a few chicken and monkey are two recycled toy animals that tour with massaccesi. www.massaccesi.com
